Please note, .CO domain registration is now live. The .CO domain launched in April 2010, when the Sunrise phase began. This was followed by the Landrush phase, before the domain was opened up for General Availabilty. .CO domain registration - what you need to know
There are three launch phases that you need to be aware of during the .CO domain name registration process. These phases are named Global Sunrise, Landrush and General Availability.
Applying for a .CO domain registration during the Global Sunrise process is critical if you wish protect your trademark and corporate identity.
During the initial .CO Landrush phase, anyone from the general public can apply for any available .CO domain registration. If however, there is more than one application for a particular domain name then the domain registration is entered into an auction where interested parties are able to place bids for that domain. This stage is not first-come, first-served.
Once the Landrush phase has completed, the .CO domain registry will open their doors for the General Availability period, where live domain registrations take place on a first-come, first-served basis.
