The .xxx domain launched in September 2011, when the Sunrise phase began. This was followed by the Landrush phase, before the domain was opened up for General Availabilty.

.xxx General Availability Domain registration
Commences: Dec 6th 2011
This phase is open to the general public and is a first-come, first-served launch. This is the point at which live registrations will take place, allowing you to buy domains instantly. Upon confirmation from the registry, you will be the legal owner of the domain registration requested. Non-members of the adult Sponsored Community can also get "Non-Resolving" names.
It is highly recommended that you Pre-Order your .xxx domain registrations for General Availability before the phase launches to give you the best chance of securing your desired domains.
- If you intend on Pre-Ordering a highly sought-after generic domain name, you should consider placing an application in the Landrush phase.
- Please note that once placed, General Availability Pre-Orders cannot be cancelled, substituted or transferred.
