Blogging to Promote your eBay Auctions
If you have a thriving eBay shop, have you considered creating a blog which promotes your auctions?
This is becoming a popular marketing technique for eBayers, because people interested in what is being sold on eBay can easily subscribe to the blogger's RSS feed for updates on new products and auction launches. Buyers then do not have to log into eBay to check whether any new items are up for sale.
What's more, a good blog is easily found via search engines, while eBay shops are not. If you choose a blog name which is keyword-rich, you are more likely to gain a high ranking for your appropriate keywords. Blogs get crawled frequently because they are often updated more regularly than most other websites. And because you'll be frequently writing about your products, it's likely that you'll be writing naturally keyword-rich content for your blog – one of the best ways to optimise a site for search engines.
As well as product news, you could also feature articles and opinion pieces about the genre of products that you sell. For example, if you sell home-made jewellery, you could write about current trends and fashions in costume jewellery.
Many blogging services offer a tagging system which allows you to categorise your posts by subject, so that your visitors can easily find the entries that interest them most. Also, if you use a blogging network such as LiveJournal or Blogger, people may find you by searching for users with similar interests to you.
