HTML Tutorials

W3Schools is a great website with a wealth of information and tutorials for web designers and developers. On the left hand side of the website, you'll find links to all their tutorials in various different categories. Most of these tutorials feature quizzes at the end for you to test your skills. When you have completed your studies, you can, if you wish, take an online exam. This is a quick guide to W3Schools' HTML tutorials.

HTML Tutorial

HTML, or HyperText Markup Language, is a markup language for the creation of web pages. W3School's general HTML tutorial ranges from the basic to the advanced, catering for budding web designers and seasoned professionals alike.

The tutorials are grouped in Basic and Advanced sections. Both take you through specific, step-by-step examples and explanations of how to add various elements to web pages.

Some of the most useful features of the HTML tutorial section are the reference lists, including the tag list and the list of colour names.

Other HTML tutorials can be found at HTML Code Tutorial and EchoEcho.

XHTML Tutorial

XHTML (eXtensible HyperText Markup Language) is a stricter, cleaner version of HTML which conforms to XML standards, and is recommended by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

W3School's < rel="nofollow" href=http://w3schools.com/xhtml/default.asp target=_new rel=nofollow>XHTML tutorial explains in more detail the distinction between HTML and XHTML, and goes on to offer more XHTML-related resources, including details of correct syntax and validation. Again, there is a list of references included in the XHTML tutorial section.

Other XHTML tutorials can be found at Free Webmaster Help and Top XML.

CSS Tutorial

CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) is a stylesheet language specifically used to describe the presentation of a document written in a markup language. Usually it is used to style HTML and XHTML documents, and it enables clean separation of design from content.

W3Schools' CSS tutorial features both basic and advanced CSS techniques, as well as examples and references. There are also some CSS2 resources offered.

More CSS tutorials can be found at EchoEcho and CSS Tutorial.

TCP/IP Tutorial

TCP/IP is the communication protocol for the internet. The W3Schools' TCP/IP tutorial is brief but comprehensive, and gives a good overview of what TCP/IP is and how it works.

More detail about TCP/IP can be found at PC Support Advisor.
