Publishing your Website

You've designed your website, got your Domain Name – how do you publish it to the internet?

You need to purchase some web hosting. There are many articles available about web hosting on DomainMonster.com.

Once you have done this, you should receive your FTP (File Transfer Protocol) login details from your web host. FTP is the protocol whereby you can upload the files for your web pages and content to your host's server.

If you used a WYSIWYG web design package such as Dreamweaver or Microsoft FrontPage, there should be a publishing wizard which helps you to upload your website to the server. You just need to follow the onscreen instructions.

If you coded your website manually, or if you would prefer to have more control over the way that your files are uploaded, you can try using a free/open-source FTP client such as FileZilla, OneButton (Mac OS X only) or Core FTP (Windows platforms only).
