CSS Position Relative

Example CSS to position an element relative to its normal position.

    Example CSS:
  • h2.pos_left {position:relative; left:-20px;}
  • h2.pos_right {position:relative; left:20px;}

    Example HTML:
  • <h2>Heading 1 is in its original position.</h2>
  • <h2 class="pos_left">Heading 2 is moved left of its original position.</h2>
  • <h2 class="pos_right">Heading 3 is moved right of its original position.</h2>
  • <p>Relative positioning moves an element RELATIVE to its original position.</p>
  • <p>The style "left:-10px" subtracts 10 pixels from the element's original left position.</p>

    Example:

    Heading 1 is in its original position.

    Heading 2 is moved left of its original position.

    Heading 3 is moved right of its original position.

    Relative positioning moves an element RELATIVE to its original position.

    The style "left:-10px" subtracts 10 pixels from the element's original left position.

    The style "left:10px" adds 10 pixels to the element's original left position.
