Back links are links to your web pages from external pages (i.e. pages of websites which are not under your domain name). They are also sometimes referred to as inbound links.
The number and quality of back links to a web page are used to determine its link popularity or PageRank. This score has an effect on the web pages' rankings in the SERPs.
Back links can be established by posting on blogs and forums with a link in your signature, or simply by having such a good website that people will want to link back to it!
