A hyperlink or link is an electronic connection between one page (hypertext document) and another. Linked-to pages could be part of the same website as the source page, or part of a different website.
The text that appears as the words of the link is called the anchor text. This text is very important when establishing back links to your website for the purposes of search engine optimisation (SEO). The anchor text should be relevant to the destination page, and contain targeted keyphrases.
Deep links are links to pages of a website other than the home page. Deep links are thought to bestow more link popularity on a website than links to the home page.
