Page Rank
PageRank is the name of an analytic element applied to web pages by the search engine Google. Each web page indexed by Google's spiders is assigned a PageRank score, which indicates the link popularity or importance
of the page. This is measured by the number and quality of back links to the page.
Although Google pioneered the technique, other search engines also use similar algorithms to determine link popularity (sometimes called page rank
, as opposed to PageRank
).
PageRank should not be concerned with ranking, which is simply the positioning of a web page in the SERPs.
